Transcription
The Kuno device records your conversations, and the Kuno app automatically turns the recording into searchable text. Transcription happens on EU servers — your voice data never leaves Europe.
At a glance
- Transcription starts automatically as soon as you begin a recording on the Kuno device — recognizable by the pulsing red recording light.
- The finished transcript appears in the Kuno app after syncing, searchable there and with speaker separation.
- Processing and storage take place exclusively on EU servers, GDPR-compliant.
- Over 30 languages are supported; German and the DACH dialects are especially well optimized.
- Your own technical vocabulary and good microphone distance noticeably improve accuracy.
- Before every recording: get the consent of everyone involved (Section 201 StGB).
Transcription turns every recording from your Kuno device into readable, searchable text. That way, you can find any statement again later without having to listen through the entire recording.
When transcription starts
Transcription is directly tied to the recording:
- Press the record button on top of your Kuno device.
- The red recording light starts to pulse — a clearly visible signal that recording is in progress.
- As soon as the device syncs with the Kuno app again (via Wi-Fi or when docked), the recording is transcribed on EU servers.
- The finished transcript appears in the Recordings section of the app, usually within a few minutes.
Consent is required. Recording non-public spoken conversations without the consent of everyone involved is a criminal offense in Germany under Section 201 StGB. Inform everyone present before you start. The visible red recording light helps you stay transparent.
The transcript in the app
Tap a recording to open the transcript. There you can:
- Search the full text via the magnifying glass icon,
- copy individual sections or mark them as a note,
- switch between speakers — Kuno distinguishes voices automatically (Speaker 1, Speaker 2, …),
- export the entire transcript as a text or PDF file.
Languages
Kuno transcribes over 30 languages. German, as well as Austrian and Swiss language variants, are especially well trained. The language is detected automatically; for multilingual conversations, you can set it explicitly in the recording settings.
Improving accuracy
- Add frequent technical terms, product names, or proper names under Settings › Vocabulary.
- Place the device centrally, no more than about two meters from the speakers.
- Reduce background noise — close windows or doors.
- Ask people to speak clearly and avoid talking over each other.
Privacy
Your recordings and transcripts are processed and stored exclusively on servers in the EU, in line with GDPR. You can permanently delete individual recordings and their associated transcripts in the app at any time.
If no transcript arrives, check the device’s Wi-Fi connection and whether syncing has completed. If that doesn’t help, reach us at [email protected].
