Templates

Templates let you define how Kuno automatically summarizes your recordings into structured notes. That way, every conversation produces a consistent result that fits your specific use case.

At a glance

  • Templates control how the recorded conversation is structured into a note, such as meeting minutes, a 1:1, or an interview.
  • Kuno ships with ready-made templates that you can select per recording or set as the default.
  • You create your own templates in the Kuno app under Settings > Templates, specifying purpose, style, and the desired structure.
  • Templates only take effect during summarization: you can still switch them after the recording and regenerate the note.
  • Recording and processing take place on EU servers in a GDPR-compliant way; getting consent from all conversation partners remains your responsibility (Section 201 StGB).
  • Templates can be shared within a team, provided your plan includes team features.

Templates determine the structure Kuno turns your recording into after the conversation. Instead of a plain transcript, you get an organized note — for example with sections for decisions, open items, and action items. You choose the right template once, and the Kuno app takes care of the rest.

Choosing a template

  1. Open the recording you want in the Kuno app, or start a new one.
  2. Tap Template at the top and choose one of the built-in templates, such as Meeting minutes, 1:1, Interview, or Free-form note.
  3. Stop the recording using the stop button on the Kuno device. As soon as the LED switches from steady red (recording active) to pulsing blue, the app processes the conversation according to the chosen template.

If you always want the same structure, set a default template under Settings > Templates. It will then apply to every new recording.

Creating your own template

  1. Go to Settings > Templates and tap New template.
  2. Give it a name and describe its purpose (e.g. “Sales customer call”).
  3. Set the style and length — for example, short bullet points or detailed paragraphs.
  4. Define the structure with the sections you want, for example Summary, Agreements, Next steps.
  5. Save. The template is immediately available to choose for every recording.

Tip: Be specific. “List all numbers, dates, and owners mentioned” produces better results than general instructions. Feel free to refine the template after your first few recordings.

Switching templates afterward

An already-created note can be restructured: open the recording, tap Change template, and choose a different one. Kuno regenerates the note without you having to record the conversation again.

Note on consent and privacy: Templates don’t change your obligations. In Germany, recording non-public spoken conversations is only permitted with the consent of everyone involved (Section 201 StGB). The red recording light on the Kuno device makes the recording visible — but you should still explicitly obtain consent. Recording, transcription, and summarization take place exclusively on servers in the EU (GDPR-compliant).
