Customizing transcription
With custom terms, the right language setting, and quick corrections, your Kuno transcript becomes noticeably more accurate — especially for technical vocabulary, product names, and abbreviations. Here's how to customize transcription in just a few steps.
At a glance
- Add your own vocabulary (company names, products, technical terms) as a keyword list in the Kuno app so Kuno recognizes these words better when spoken.
- Set the recording language per recording — this is the single biggest factor for accuracy.
- Vocabulary doesn't replace words in the transcript or automatically expand abbreviations; it only improves recognition of spoken terms.
- Corrections made to a finished transcript are carried forward and improve future recordings, without training any model on your content.
- All processing happens exclusively in the EU; consent from everyone involved is required before every recording (Section 201 StGB).
Kuno automatically transcribes your recordings. For industry-specific terms, proper names, or abbreviations, you can specifically improve recognition. You make these adjustments in the Kuno app — the Kuno device itself only records.
Adding your own vocabulary
If Kuno consistently misspells recurring technical terms, company names, or product names, add them as a keyword list:
- Open Settings → Transcription → Vocabulary in the Kuno app.
- Enter your terms as a comma-separated list, e.g.
Kuno, Heilbronn, GDPR, quarterly review. - Save. New recordings take the list into account immediately.
This makes Kuno recognize these words more reliably as soon as they’re spoken. It’s best to update the list before important conversations.
Setting the recording language
The single biggest factor for accuracy is choosing the right language:
- Go to Settings → Transcription → Language.
- Choose the main language of the recording (e.g. German).
- For multilingual conversations, enable automatic language detection.
What vocabulary doesn’t do
The vocabulary list only improves the recognition of spoken words. It doesn’t retroactively replace terms in the transcript and doesn’t automatically expand abbreviations. Multi-word terms are only recognized if they’re spoken exactly as entered. For after-the-fact additions, correct the transcript directly in the editor.
Corrections that carry forward
If you edit a finished transcript, Kuno applies your corrections to future recordings in your account.
Privacy: Your corrections and recordings remain exclusive to your account. Kuno processes all data exclusively in the EU and does not train any AI models on your content.
Before every recording: consent
Important: Recording conversations without the consent of everyone involved is a criminal offense under Section 201 of the German Criminal Code (StGB). Get the consent of everyone present before you start. The red recording LED on the Kuno device visibly indicates that a recording is in progress.
