Notifications
The Kuno app notifies you at important moments during your recordings — for example when your Kuno device connects, a recording is in progress, or a transcript has finished processing. That way you stay in the loop without having to keep the app open constantly.
At a glance
- Notifications cover four areas: recording status, device connection, finished transcripts, and battery alerts for the Kuno device.
- You control all notifications centrally under Settings › Notifications in the Kuno app and can enable or disable each category individually.
- On the device itself, the red recording LED reliably signals at all times that a recording is in progress, independent of app notifications.
- The LED is also a transparency feature for anyone present and supports the consent required under Section 201 StGB.
- If no notifications appear, check the system permission, the Bluetooth connection, and whether the app is allowed to run in the background.
The Kuno app keeps you up to date on every relevant step of a recording — discreetly and without detours. Notifications appear as system alerts on your smartphone and complement the status display directly on the Kuno device.
Which notifications exist
Kuno distinguishes four categories, which you can control individually:
- Recording status – when a recording starts, pauses, or ends.
- Device connection – when your Kuno device connects via Bluetooth or loses connection.
- Transcript ready – as soon as the transcription and processing of a recording is complete.
- Device alerts – for example, low battery or full storage on the device.
Managing notifications
- Open the Kuno app and tap Settings.
- Select Notifications.
- Turn each category on or off using the corresponding switch.
- Tap Save — your selection takes effect immediately.
If you want to temporarily mute all alerts, use the Pause all notifications switch at the top of this menu.
The indicator on the device
Independent of app notifications, your Kuno device always shows its own status: the red recording LED stays lit as long as recording is in progress. This indicator can’t be hidden — it’s deliberately built in as a fixed feature.
Note on consent and transparency: The visible recording LED creates transparency for everyone present. In Germany, recording non-public spoken conversations without consent is a criminal offense under Section 201 StGB. Always inform your conversation partners before starting and get their consent. Your recordings are processed exclusively in the EU and are never used to train AI models.
If no notifications appear
- Check in your smartphone’s system settings whether Kuno is allowed to send notifications.
- Make sure the Kuno device is connected via Bluetooth and that the LED and connection status are correct.
- Allow the app to stay active in the background — otherwise notifications may arrive with a delay.
- Restart the app if notifications still don’t appear.
