Word dictionary
The dictionary teaches your Kuno device to correctly spell proper names, technical terms, and brand names. This makes your transcripts more accurate - all without Kuno using your recordings for training.
At a glance

The dictionary helps your Kuno device reliably recognize words that aren’t in any standard vocabulary - like customer names, product names, medical or legal terminology, or company-internal abbreviations. Instead of a phonetic guess, the transcription then uses exactly the spelling you’ve saved.
When the dictionary helps
The AI knows general vocabulary very well, but runs into limits with rare proper names and specialized terms. Typical cases:
- Proper names: people, places, companies (e.g. “Schäfer-Lindqvist,” “Niederrhein-Klinikum”)
- Technical terms and brands: product names, industry jargon, abbreviations
- Recurring mix-ups: words that keep getting transcribed similarly, but incorrectly
Adding your own terms
- Open the Kuno app and select Settings › Dictionary.
- Tap Add term.
- Enter the word with the spelling you want and save.
- Make sure your Kuno device is connected via Bluetooth - the entry will then sync automatically.
Kuno will prioritize this spelling going forward whenever it detects a phonetically similar match.
Correcting misspellings
If a word is regularly transcribed incorrectly, add a correction:
- In the app, select Dictionary › Add correction.
- Enter the incorrectly recognized variant on the left and the correct spelling on the right.
- Save. Kuno will automatically replace the term in all future recordings.
Good to know
- Changes only affect future recordings. Transcripts already created stay unchanged.
- Entries can be edited or deleted anytime via the swipe menu.
- Keep terms short and unambiguous - this gives the best results.
Privacy: Your dictionary entries and recordings are processed exclusively on EU servers. Kuno never uses your data to train AI models. So the dictionary helps us improve recognition without your content ever influencing the model.
