Here's how to charge your Kuno device, how long the battery lasts, and how to keep it healthy for years. All figures refer to your device's condition as shipped.

Your Kuno device is built for long recording sessions and recharges quickly. This article explains charging, battery life, and care - so your device stays reliable for years to come.
How to charge your Kuno
- Connect the included USB-C cable to the charging port on the underside of the device.
- Plug the other end into a USB-C power adapter (5V/2A or higher) or a computer.
- The status LED pulses orange - the device is charging.
- Once the LED turns solid green, the battery is full.
A full charge from empty takes about 90 minutes. Just 15 minutes of charging is enough for roughly 4 hours of recording.
Battery life
As shipped, your Kuno delivers:
- up to 20 hours of continuous recording,
- around 10 days on standby (powered on, not recording).
Actual battery life depends on room temperature and usage. You can check the exact charge level anytime in the Kuno app under Device → Battery.
When the battery runs low
Your active recording is protected:
- At 10% remaining, you’ll get a notification in the Kuno app.
- At 2%, the device safely saves the current recording locally and shuts down in a controlled way.
This means no recording is ever lost, even if you forget to charge.
Note on the recording indicator: The red recording LED always signals an active recording - even while charging. If it’s off, nothing is being recorded. In Germany, secretly recording a private conversation is a criminal offense under Section 201 of the German Criminal Code (StGB). Get everyone’s consent before you start recording.
Preserving battery life
Like any device, the lithium-ion battery ages over time. These habits will help it stay strong for longer:
- Charge at room temperature (about 10-30°C). Heat and cold both damage the battery.
- Avoid leaving the device plugged in at 100% all the time. A charge level between 20% and 80% is ideal for everyday use.
- Fully discharge the battery every few months and then charge it back up - this keeps the battery gauge accurate.
- If you’re not using the device for a while, store it at around 50% charge.
Warranty & support
The battery is built in and not user-replaceable. It’s covered by the statutory 2-year warranty. If the battery starts losing capacity unusually fast, reach out to [email protected] - we’ll check your device and find a solution.
