EU hosting & no model training
Your recordings, transcripts, and summaries are processed exclusively on servers in the EU. We never use your content to train AI models — at Kuno, that's not a setting, it's a core principle.

At Kuno, privacy isn’t an afterthought — it’s built into the technology. This page explains where your data is processed and why we never use it to train AI models.
Processing exclusively in the EU
All content created with your Kuno device and the Kuno app — audio recordings, transcripts, and summaries — is processed and stored in data centers within the European Union. There is no transfer to the US or other third countries without an adequate level of data protection.
What this means for you:
- Your recordings never leave the EU legal area.
- The GDPR applies throughout.
- Encryption is applied both in transit and at rest.
No AI model training on your data
We never use your recordings, transcripts, or summaries to train or improve AI models — neither our own nor those of our service providers. We also don’t perform anonymized analysis of your content for training purposes.
The AI services that power transcription and summarization are contractually bound as processors under Article 28 GDPR. They may process your content only to deliver the service, and may not use it for their own purposes — in particular, not for model training.
Note: The red recording LED on the Kuno device lights up visibly whenever a recording is being made. In Germany, recording confidential conversations without the consent of everyone involved is a criminal offense under Section 201 of the German Criminal Code (StGB). Inform the people you’re speaking with and obtain their consent before starting a recording.
You stay in control
Your data belongs to you. In the Kuno app, you can at any time:
- Permanently delete individual recordings or transcripts.
- Export your content to keep your own copy.
- Have your account deleted entirely — this also removes the associated recordings.
Deleted content is not retained or further processed.
