Delete & restore
Deleted recordings and notes in Kuno first land in the trash, where you can restore them for 30 days. After that, they're permanently and irreversibly removed from the EU cloud.
At a glance
- Deleting first moves a recording to the trash — it isn't gone immediately.
- From the trash, you can restore entries with a single tap within 30 days.
- Permanent deletion is irreversible: audio, transcript, and summary are fully removed from the EU cloud.
- Deletion happens both in the Kuno app and on EU servers — no AI training on your data.
- Permanent deletion is also the simplest way to fulfil your GDPR deletion obligation for a recording.
Sometimes a recording was just a test, exists as a duplicate, or contains content you don’t want to keep. In Kuno, you can delete recordings and notes yourself at any time — with a safety net: nothing disappears irreversibly right away.
Deleting a recording
- Open the Kuno app and go to your recordings overview.
- Tap the recording you want to remove, or swipe it left.
- Select Delete and confirm.
The recording then moves to the Trash. Audio, transcript, and summary disappear from your overview, but remain restorable for 30 days.
Restoring from the trash
- In the Kuno app, open Settings › Trash.
- Find the entry you’re looking for in the list.
- Tap Restore. The recording reappears in its original place — complete with audio and transcript.
Deleting permanently
In the trash, you can also remove an entry immediately and completely instead of waiting out the 30 days. To do so, tap Delete permanently on the relevant entry.
Warning — cannot be undone: Permanently deleted recordings cannot be restored, either by you or by Kuno support. Audio, transcript, and summary are completely removed from our EU cloud. Before confirming, make sure you’ve selected the right entry.
What happens to your data when you delete
Kuno processes and stores data exclusively in the EU. If you permanently delete a recording, it’s removed from the app and from our servers — it’s never used to train AI models. Permanent deletion is therefore also the simplest way to fulfil your deletion obligation under Art. 17 GDPR for an individual recording, for example if a recorded person requests its removal.
Note: After 30 days, entries in the trash are automatically deleted permanently. Restoring them afterward is no longer possible.
Frequently asked questions
- I can’t find the trash. Make sure your Kuno app is up to date. The trash appears under Settings › Trash once at least one entry has been deleted.
- Does a deleted recording still count toward my storage? Entries in the trash continue to take up storage until they’re permanently deleted or the 30 days have elapsed.
