What is Kuno?
Kuno is a privacy-friendly voice recorder and companion app that records, transcribes, and summarizes your conversations and notes — processed and stored entirely in the EU.

The two components
- The Kuno device – a compact voice recorder with high-quality microphones. A central record button starts and stops recording, and a clearly visible red LED stays on to signal that recording is active. In standby, the LED glows a calm white; while charging, it turns yellow.
- The Kuno app (iOS and Android) – this is where you’ll find all your recordings, transcripts, summaries, and settings. The device and app are paired over an encrypted Bluetooth connection.
How a recording works
- Turn on the Kuno device and pair it with the app.
- At the start of the conversation, ask everyone present for their consent.
- Press the record button — the red LED confirms that recording is in progress.
- Press it again after the conversation ends. The recording is transferred to the app, then transcribed and summarized in the EU.
Why privacy comes first
Kuno is developed and operated in Germany and the DACH region. Recordings are processed and stored exclusively on servers within the EU — there is no transfer to third countries. You stay in full control at all times and can delete recordings directly in the app.
Important note on consent: Under German law, recording non-public spoken conversations without the consent of everyone involved is a criminal offense under Section 201 of the German Criminal Code (StGB). Always obtain the explicit consent of everyone taking part before you start recording. The visible red LED helps you stay transparent about it.
What you should know as a buyer
The Kuno device comes with the statutory 2-year warranty. If you purchased it online, you also have a 14-day right of withdrawal, no reason required.
