Transcription issues
If a transcript is missing, cuts off, or gets words wrong, it's almost always due to the Bluetooth connection, recording quality, or the language setting. The steps below resolve most cases within a few minutes.
At a glance
- First check whether the red recording LED stayed lit continuously during the conversation — the Kuno device only records when it does.
- Bluetooth dropouts are the most common cause: keep the device and smartphone close together and re-pair if needed.
- Set the transcription language in the Kuno app to match the language of the conversation.
- Transcription and AI processing run on EU servers; the transcript only appears after the app has synced.
- For ongoing issues, [email protected] can help — just include the device ID.
If a transcript is missing, incomplete, or contains incorrect words, the cause can usually be narrowed down quickly. Work through the steps below in order.
Quick check
- Did the red recording LED on the Kuno device stay lit continuously throughout the conversation? If it blinked or went out, nothing was recorded.
- Was the device paired with the Kuno app via Bluetooth throughout the conversation (connection icon in the app)?
- Has the Kuno app fully synced after the conversation? The transcript is only created after the recording has uploaded.
- Is the correct transcription language set in the app?
Check the recording and re-pair the device
If the Bluetooth connection drops, gaps appear in the transcript. Here’s how to fix it:
- Keep the device and your smartphone as close together as possible (under 5 meters, without thick walls in between).
- Open the Kuno app, go to Device, and tap Re-pair.
- Briefly press the pairing button on the Kuno device and wait until the app confirms the connection.
- Charge the device if the battery is below 15% — a low battery can cause recordings to end prematurely.
Improve transcript quality
- Place the device centrally between the speakers, not hidden away in a bag.
- Reduce background noise (ventilation, music, multiple overlapping conversations).
- Set the transcription language in the app to match the language actually being spoken; the system recognizes dialects and specialist terminology better after a brief adjustment period.
Transcript doesn’t appear
- Check your internet connection — processing runs on Kuno’s EU servers.
- Pull down on the recordings list in the app to force a sync.
- Close the app completely and reopen it.
Privacy note: Recording and transcription are processed exclusively on servers in the EU (GDPR-compliant). Please note that under German law (§ 201 StGB), recording conversations requires the consent of everyone involved — inform the other participants before you start recording.
