Connectivity & network
Most connectivity issues with Kuno come down to either the Bluetooth connection between the device and the app, or the syncing of your recordings with our EU servers. This guide walks you through both cases step by step.
At a glance
- Bluetooth issues are usually fixed by moving devices closer together, restarting the app, and re-pairing via the pairing button.
- Sync issues almost always come down to Wi-Fi, background refresh, or a restrictive corporate network.
- If the connection drops, your recordings stay safely stored on the Kuno device and sync automatically later.
- Data processing happens exclusively on EU servers, so nothing is lost while you wait for syncing.
- For corporate networks, IT teams can allowlist the Kuno domains.
- If the problem persists, [email protected] can help — just include your device and app version.
Connectivity issues with Kuno almost always fall into one of two categories: the Bluetooth connection between the Kuno device and the app, or the syncing of your recordings with our EU servers. Work through the relevant section step by step.
Bluetooth: device not found or keeps disconnecting
- Keep the Kuno device close to your phone (under 2 meters, with no wall in between).
- Check whether the recording LED is lit. If the device appears dark, charge it first.
- Open the Kuno app and make sure Bluetooth is enabled in your phone’s system settings.
- Close the app completely and reopen it.
- If that doesn’t help, press the pairing button on the device until the LED blinks, then re-pair it in the app under Settings › Device.
Recordings made during a Bluetooth dropout stay safely stored on the Kuno device. As soon as the connection is re-established, they’re transferred automatically. Nothing is lost.
Syncing: recordings don’t appear in the app
- Check that your phone has a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
- Open the Kuno app and pull down on the recordings list to manually trigger a sync.
- Allow the app background refresh in your system settings so syncing continues even when the app is closed.
- As a test, switch networks (e.g., from Wi-Fi to mobile data) to rule out a blocking network.
On corporate or practice networks
Restrictive firewalls or VPNs can sometimes block syncing. Ask your IT department to allowlist the Kuno domains (*.heykuno.com). All data is processed and stored exclusively on servers within the EU — allowlisting doesn’t take data outside the European legal area.
