Notes not generating

If no notes appear in the Kuno app after a recording, it's usually because the recording hasn't synced yet or is still being processed. The steps below will typically resolve the issue on your own.

At a glance

  • First check whether the recording has fully synced from the Kuno device to the app (Bluetooth active, device in range).
  • Note generation can take a few minutes depending on the length of the recording — be patient with longer conversations.
  • If a transcript exists but there's no note, manually regenerating the note from the recording usually helps.
  • If the transcript is missing, the problem occurred during the recording itself (recording LED, microphone, language).
  • Your recordings are processed in compliance with EU regulations; nothing is lost by regenerating.
  • If the problem persists, [email protected] can help — just include the affected recording.

After a conversation, Kuno automatically creates a transcript from your recording and generates structured notes from it. If the notes don’t appear, it’s almost always related to one of the steps below. Work through them in order.

1. Make sure the recording has fully synced

Notes are only created once the recording has been transferred from the Kuno device to the app.

  1. Open the Kuno app and make sure the device is connected via Bluetooth (status indicator at the top of the app).
  2. Keep the device in range and wait until the recording finishes syncing.
  3. If the device won’t connect, briefly press the pairing button and re-pair it in the app.

2. Wait for processing to finish

Once the recording has synced, it’s processed on Kuno’s EU servers. This usually takes under a minute for short recordings, and a few minutes for longer conversations. Keep the app open and pull down on the recordings list to refresh.

3. Check the transcript

Open the affected recording and look at the transcript.

  • Transcript present but no note: Tap Regenerate notes within the recording. This restarts note generation.
  • Transcript is empty or missing: No audio was captured during the conversation. Next time, check that the recording LED stayed lit throughout the recording and that the device was close enough to the speakers.

4. Check the language setting

If the transcript appears in the wrong language, set the correct conversation language in the recording settings and regenerate the notes.

5. Check your network

Note generation requires an internet connection. On corporate networks with a VPN or firewall, the connection may be blocked. As a test, try switching to mobile data or a different Wi-Fi network.

Privacy note: Your recordings and transcripts are processed exclusively on servers in the EU (GDPR-compliant). Regenerating notes doesn’t create an additional copy outside the EU and doesn’t delete anything — your original recording is preserved. Please remember that recording conversations in Germany requires the consent of everyone involved (§ 201 StGB).
